Jane Goodall, Thank You
ππ±π A Life of Science, Compassion, and Hope π
Jane Goodall transformed the way the world understands animals by showing that chimpanzees are not so different from us, that they have emotions, intelligence, family bonds, and even the ability to use tools. This revelation shattered old scientific assumptions and forced us to confront the arrogance with which humans had set ourselves apart from the rest of the animal kingdom.
But Goodallβs influence didnβt stop at science. She redefined what conservation could look like, advocating not just for protecting chimpanzees but for caring for entire ecosystems and the human communities that depend on them. Through the Jane Goodall Institute and her Roots & Shoots program, she has empowered generations of young people to see themselves as caretakers of the planet. Her message that every small act matters has become a global rallying cry for environmental stewardship.
Goodallβs legacy is one of both science and spirit: she gave us new knowledge, but also new responsibility. She reminded the world that how we treat animals, each other, and the earth are deeply connected, and that hope is a choice we make every day. What a beautiful life. Thank you Jane, for everything
βIt is these undeniable qualities of human love and compassion and self-sacrifice that give me hope for the future. We are, indeed, often cruel and evil. Nobody can deny this. We gang up on each one another, we torture each other, with words as well as deeds, we fight, we kill. But we are also capable of the most noble, generous, and heroic behavior.β - Jane Goodall
βYou cannot get through a single day without having an impact on the world around you. What you do makes a difference, and you have to decide what kind of difference you want to make.β β Jane Goodall

Remembering the good out there- and she was one of the best!
I spent a day alone with her driving around the Dallas Zoo many years ago. She was the guest speaker at the annual Zoological Society Meeting. We spent a long time in the Primate Area. She was so patient, watchful and soft spoken. Kind. Even interested in me.
